Barcoding Colletotrichum: a DNA identification tool for a 'difficult' fungus of biosecurity importance

I will be working on the plant pathogenic fungus Colletotrichum for my post-doc.

The long term aim is to contribute to improvement of New Zealand’s competitive advantage in the international horticultural and agricultural marketplace through more accurate, more timely, and more defendable biosecurity diagnostic systems, to better enable endusers to retain the capability and capacity to manage biosecurity decisions, and to provide the tools needed to develop biosecurity policy according to the most modern international standards. This will be achieved by developing NZ human capability in molecular fungal pathology and fungal barcoding technologies to deliver a system for an economically important pathogen group relevant to biosecurity and NZ grower organisations.
